From using the OpenVPN Server myself, it should be a reasonably straight forward configuration issue as opposed to additional firmware.
If you cannot provide this then would you at least allow the VPN ports (4500 etc) to be freed up when not in use so I can forward them to the internal network. At present these ports are blocked from being set for forwarding to the internal network irrespective of whether the VPN server is active or not...

Totally agree with you comments regarding VPN ports 4500, 500 etc to allow L2TP tunnelling to be used from another connected VPN device such as a billion 7800vdox modem that is connected to my d7000 via the billion's wan port.
