I have an R7000 and the internal DNS is often (>1/month) unresponsive. Perhaps because I have >70 devices, half of which come and go and most of which will be utilizing the DNS.
So that I do not have to reboot the router, or teach my family when and how to, I would like my router's DHCP server to issue the IP of DNS servers that I specify rather than its own internal DNS. I do not require any make-it-easy behaviors so placing this configuration option in Advanced Settings would be appropriate.
Yes, I know I can set up my own DHCP server and I have done that in times past. But, now I have to travel more frequently and need to maximize the availability of my home's basic infrastructure. One of the most common failures when I am away from home is now that R7000's DNS server stalling out.
Hard-configuring a device's DNS list fixes the issues I see for service from that device, but many of my devices need to register with multiple networks through the week and in any case maintaining all those devices with the same DNS becomes cumbersome.
Thanks!
