Enable/Hide SSID Broadcast

I have to express my disappointment with Netgear’s decision to remove the "Enable/Hide SSID Broadcast" feature from the latest Orbi systems. While I understand your technical reasoning, from a customer standpoint, having control over SSID broadcast has always been a standard feature, even on far less expensive devices.

Many users, including myself, value the ability to manage the visibility of our networks for personal, organizational, and even psychological reasons. Removing this option from a premium, top-of-the-line system like the Orbi 970 feels like a step backward, especially considering the price point and the expectations of advanced configurability at this level.

I sincerely hope Netgear reconsiders this decision in future updates, or at least provides users with the choice rather than removing functionality that has been industry-standard for years.

Thank you again for your time and support, but I must say this decision is disappointing.

Yes has been standard on stand alone single router systems. Orbi is MESH system and is more complex, which needs signal and visibility for both connected clients and RBS to properly connect to the system. Hiding the SSID would render signals to the RBS a problem thus they would not be able to connect.

Also there are devices and applications out there that can see hidden SSID names. So generally hidding SSIDs isn't very useful as they can be found and seen. Also not really a problem now days. WiFi is generally safe and secure for use. Most home users want good and safe working wifi is all. No much call or problems seen with security these days.

NG I presume won't be putting that in. They never had that feature on MESH systems for past several years. Most likely wont as due to the aboved mentioned thoughts.

    Good Luck though.
