I just purchased a CM2050V modem and had the same question regarding the included CAT5e patch cable. So, does the CM2050V modem physically operate to that 2.5G/5GBASE-T standard? If so, is that why the CAT5e patch cable included with the modem (and wired in my house) will allow up to 2.5G speed? From those articles, it appears the 100 MHz bandwidth limitation of CAT5e will still apply. I think that means a much smaller than normal "pipe" for data to flow through than would be available for a CAT6a or CAT7 cable normally used for >1 gig speeds. I believe that may result in more errors but not sure how that will affect real-world usage. Maybe less users/devices can be on the internet at one time.
