Other mesh networks such as Eero and soon Luma support hard wiring your sattelites. I think its extremely important Netgear Orbi does the same. Especially for those of us who can.

i can pretty much assure you it wont be that soon and i can assure you no one at netgear would have officially stated August/September , any NDA between the writer and netgear would have prevented this so i think there maybe some creative licence going on
- CorivalAspirantThanks Bing-Stroller for the referentie to techhive.
"Netgear tells me they’re planning to release a firmware update in the August/September time frame that will enable its Orbi satellites to use wired ethernet for backhaul"

I think it is only a matter of time before we get some movement on this.
We have had at least 2 referances from Netgear on other posts, and most recently a possible leak to TechHive.
If we all think positive and keep pushing - it may just happen.
- SshanepFledglingRecently bought the orbi. Assumed wired backhaul was a feature since most competitors use it. Really hope that it comes to be. Can see that we haven't heard any news on this in awhile.

NETGEAR, I have spent alot of money with the orbi system, if this feature does not become part of the netgear orbi system... I may put my orbi system aside and find something more capable....

Netgear - please add the functionality!!

With patchy service from my Orbi satellite which is in the same room as I am sitting typing this, I'm currently waiting for the cable guy to rock up and put a hardline to this study - which was the exact thing I was trying to avoid. This way at least my desktop will get a solid connection.
+1 for adding ethernet backhaul as a feature, that way I won't need to bin my Orbi network and switch to a mesh system that supports it.

Please do it!

+1 for wired Ethernet backhaul, I'd really appreciate that.

+1 for wired Ethernet backhaul. One of my satellites (1 of 2) has to be placed in a suboptimal location (halfway to the location I would really like to place it) due to distance and walls. There is already Cat6 to the optimal location so wired backhaul would be a great solution. I'm willing to run wire to the second satellite if fully wired backhaul is required (vs a hybrid system).
