Other mesh networks such as Eero and soon Luma support hard wiring your sattelites. I think its extremely important Netgear Orbi does the same. Especially for those of us who can.

Please add this feature! I obviously didn't do my homework before purchasing, since the setup I had in mind would require it. Very disappointing. (Didn't help that one reviewer had nice, but improperly labelled illustrations, showing the back of a router and calling it a satellite - thereby showing clearly that the satellite had ETHERNET IN.)

+ one on wired backhaul. Would buy today if this were an option.

I think this would be a nice future-proofing for people who want to set up really big networks.

Now even Amplifi are going to offer wired backhaul why does Netgear always have to play catchup after taking the lead? Competition always see to fly past Netgear even if Netgear starts ahead, just poor feature set and slow Firmware release plagues Netgear everytime they put out something promising, Orbi still has a lot of potential but features Must improve wired backhaul is one of them now every competitor is offering it!

The problem when you the first to have great product idea everyone has the benefit of seing what you are doing and make improvements even before you can even see a need for improvements. I also agree Netgear may believe that once they place a a product on the market no changes in it's design is needed but even the best research can bite you the rear if you do not watch the market place as it changes the next company is always ready to take your place.
Another plug for wired backhaul.

It's look like people want Orbi mesh like device but with a wired ap of a router mixed in to the mixture of the wireless backhaul and the dual bands the Orbi already have so a new product with the power of a r8500 or r9000 router with the wireless usability of a Orbi all in one device.
Not sure how the mix would turn out I think each part would lose and gain functionality and features along the way.

Netgear Orbi NEEDS to support Ethernet Backhaul. Since Apple has dropped Time Capsule and Airport Extreme development i am switching clients to Google Wifi, but this is ONLY because the Netgear Orbi does NOT support Ethernet backhaul connections like Google WiFi does. There is NO WAY i could recommend the Netgear Orbi EVER until they have a new model or Firmware update that 100% supports ETHERNET BACKHAUL CONNECTIONS.

It totally baffles me that Orbi with a Qualcomm IPQ4019 a 720Mhz Quad core Processor, paired with 512Mb of RAM and 4Gb of flash memory and a wired backhaul can't be added via Firmware so much horse power not utilized.

For some a easy and reasonable idea too others a nonsense idea as work's just fine now the problem is showing every one the need for wired backhaul. On paper both sides see that are right and the other is wrong with a forest of on lookers who are powerless to help in either direction as no ones is listening to the other side sound's much the world we live today doesn't it.
