Netgear orbi satellite reboot option feature request

Hello,

I have the orbi RBRE960 and have been using it for more than a year now.

I have found that is would be really useful to have an option to remotely restart the orbi satellites on demand aswell as via a schedule, it seems crazy that this option doesn't exist despite the fact that other mesh systems have it, and given the fact that you can restart the main router.

Regards,

Liam

Reboots are somethign that should not be needed on a scheduled basis. If reboots are being done, then there is something wrong and the problem should be investigated. Wifi router systems are meant to be online 24/7 and working well. If reboots are needed frequency, means there is a problem that reboots are masking and not resolving.

Users can reboot Orbi systems remotely from the Orbi app. Feature been there for a long time.

Remote WEB UI access has been removed a few years back due to security concerns. NG recommends using Orbi app for remote access to some limited features which includes Rebooting the system. This triggers a reboot of the RBS as well.

  • Hi FURRYe38,

Thank you for your response. While I understand the perspective that regular reboots may indicate an underlying issue, some users find scheduled or on-demand restarts helpful for maintenance or optimization purposes. I am fully aware about using the Orbi app for remote reboot functionality, however I have found that after testing this only reboots the orbi router not the satellites.

    Best regards,

    Liam

I know that the new 9 series reboots the RBS. I don't think the older Orbi support it. Not sure if NG will be forthcoming for it nor rebooting of the RBS...one could get a networking power switch to connect to the RBS and use this as a alternative way to power cycle the RBS...I have these devices and work great.
