ORBI 970 6Ghz wifi channel cannot be changed

After testing with Wifi 7 on my Ultra 9 tablet. I have found that the 6Ghz channel has an upload issue. I have not been able to get the same speed on upload test over the 6Ghz channel. Below is the test history for my tablet and the test history for a hard wired pc that shows that the bandwidth is symmetrical on the hard wired pc but not on the tablet that is running wifi 7. I am also showing upload speed differences over the 6Ghz channel when performing file transfers on my network. Please consult with engineering on how to change the 6Ghz channel, at least for testing purposes to figure out what is going on. I have had the Linksys wifi 6e 8503 mesh system and the Orbi 960. 6Ghz channel 193 was the fastest on Linksys and 6Ghz channel 181 was the fastest on the orbi 960 for my setup. 6Ghz channel 69 on the 970 is not right for my house. Need to change the 6Ghz channel and test them all to see which one is best for my house.

1. The 6Ghz channel on the orbi 970 needs to be selectable.

2. The wireless Radio bands such as 2.4 Ghz, 5 Ghz, and 6 Ghz need to have an option for enable and disable, along with being able to select which channels can be used for backhaul.

3. In wired AP mode, The Orbi router 971 should be able to see the Orbi satellites 970 and be recognized as a connected device.

Something you should post in the Orbi WiFI 7 community about.

Nothing we can do about the 6Ghz channel. Thats Automatic.

We can help with the AP mode and RBS being connected.

  • The WiFi 6 channel can be set for different channels on the orbi 960. So the 970 should have the same feature.

WiFi 7 is new tech. May not allow for that. Maybe moving to auto channel selection. Or maybe at a later day, NG may bring user changeable options for it. NG is already aware of users requests for 6Ghz channel options.

  • The TP-LINK BE95 has two 6ghz bands, so netgear can do better than this. The BE95 is 700 dollars cheaper as well.

Its up to NG when and if that comes about.

    Good Luck.
