R8000 Guest Network Needs Separated Wireless Isolation and Local Network Access
Guest Network now combined the 2 functions "Wireless Isolation" and "Local Network Access" as a single option. In the old days, they are separate options.
My Chromecast does NOT work on Guest Network because it needs to see other devices. I cannot select "Let devices see each other and allow access to my local network", it will defeat the purpose of using the Guest Network. My guests cannot use the Chromecast now because of this.
I need this fix very badly. I have been waiting for a long time for the fix to come, but it did not happen. Especially this is nothing new, it used to be there before. I didn't know why it was changed. I am sure I am not the only one who needed this. It just makes sense to have them separated.

I'm supremely disappointed with NETGEAR. This oversight and confusion of "Guest Networks" is a NOOB type of mistake in security. With a $500 router, I expect and demand a lot. This is ridiculous and should be treated as a Level 1 Security problem and resolved correctly by NETGEAR. It is not a new feature. A guest network should be secured in three manners,
1) Can only get out to the internet
2) Can get out to the internet and see other "Guest" Devices.
3) Can get out to the internet and see Specified (by admin) devices. Like IoT devices.

Yeah, I'm done with Netgear. It should be easier to be more secure rather than harder.

With all of the security issues around IoT devices, this setting really needs to be corrected.

I was thinking of buying the R6120 until I read the user guide and read that "Allow guests to see each other AND access my local network" was one setting and not two separate settings. Seems to be a common problem among the Netgear routers so I'll now be buying from a different manufacturer.

Thanks cwcjr. I guess it is time to try out other routers. I guess that is the only way to deal with company's who do not seem to hear customer's voice. DawnM (Administrator) better respond tommorrow OR it is a new router for me.

- cwcjrTutorIt is not being worked. A clueless admin decided to call this a NEW FEATURE REQUEST: ??????????? "DawnM (Administrator) posted a new comment in Idea Exchange For Home on 2017-09-28 03:29 PM : ________________________________________ Re: R8000 Guest Network Needs Separated Wireless Isolation and Local Network Access - Status changed to: New Idea " ????? I recommend getting a 3700 (the new firmware will id as a 3800) Unless you have an Amazon Alexa or Google ??? intensive house, it should be adequate for 60+Gb.

I am facing the same issue. Did Netgear acknowledge this as an issue OR is there workaround ? If the former, is there an ETA for a fix ? If the latter, can someone point me to it ? I do not want to give up my netgear router... yet.
Apologies for asking these many questions. Am a newbie to this community

I have the r7800, and have the same aggravation. My TV does not need access to my Finances folder; it does, however, need access to Internet, Chromecast, and Roku.

I was able to allow guests to see each other while not accessing my local network on my Netgear R6300. When my R6300 finally bit the dust last night I ran out and bought a Netgear Nighthawk X6... and discovered this.
I would like to voice my support for bringing back this feature.
