i like to use the following router configuration section to assign fixed ip addresses to all macids
i do this so if there is some sort of problem i can know from the address what device it is
advanced
setup
lan setup
# ip address device name mac address
the problem i see is that there are various places in the router configuration panels where you can assign a device name to an ip address
my suggestion would be that no matter where you are when you assign a device name,
that it immediately be propagated and made available in all of the different panels.
also that changes behave the same way, be propogated everywhere immediately.
it would also be nice if all the display screens also allowed for the ability to sort the data on any of the column header titles
also for the netgear genie pc software,
it would be nice if it would inherit the device name and connection type from the router.
today you have to manually configure this information in the software on each individual device running this software product
these two things would greatly enhance the value of these two products
i would suggest this for all routers, not just this one.
