My parents Nighthawk just got a new firmware with a feature called Smart Connect and I would love for the R6050 (and whatever other routers able to get updated to use it) to get this feature. It's super useful and really makes the network a lot less of a hassle since you have one instead of two. You can read about the feature below.
Smart Connect selects the best wireless band for your wireless clients. Slower and faster devices are separated in different wireless bands to get the maximum performance. The router will also perform load balancing to avoid overloading one band. Once enabled, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz will use the same wireless settings (SSID, security option & passphrase). The 5 GHz band will copy the wireless settings of the 2.4 GHz band. This article guides you on how to configure Smart Connect.
