Wifi 5 Mesh systems should actually work with wifi 6e mesh systems, so we don't have more E-waste.
I run a RBK50 and RBS50 system. It's been Great for 5+ years, I forget. 2016 apparently. Considering my options to add 6e Wifi and very sad to hear that my $600, very functional RBK ORBI wifi 5 AX ...

There is differences between the wifi drivers and hardware that make older systems not compatible with newer systems and newer tech. Just can't make it work as you'd think and want. It's up to user to keep using what they have or get into new stuff. This happens across all brands. Not just NG. It's not just a money grab. Unless you know how tech works, hard for you to fully understand how tech works and gets developed.
Users make the systems obsolete and thats your choice. You can still use systems from years ago if you want too...there still being used. Just can't integrate them with newer systems. Current wifi devices still support older WiFi AC tech. You just don't get to use the new tech is all until one updates to something new.
Up to you to stay or go. No loss on company's part. Your not the first to say good bye and probably won't be the last.
