Backing up Readynas RN10400

I have just bought an hard drive dock the problem I'm having is I take my hard drive out of my readynas to backup my movies and some files and I plug it into my hard drive dock and it can't find the drive on the computer it ask me to format it so I format the drive now the computer sees the drive so I put a file on and eject the drive and put it back into my readynas and now it says err: used disks check raidar I'm doing this because something went wrong with the readynas and I can't put anything on the disk my only option is to format the disk and I bought the dock so I can put all my movies back on as quickly as possible because doing it through the readynas software is far too slow any help will be great full need it in plane English and step by step because I'm not well up with all this computer Jagging

    The ReadyNAS runs Linux. It uses mdadm software RAID and the BTRFS filesystem. Your Windows PC can't read the BTRFS filesystem natively.


    So the best way is to backup the data over your network as shown in the ReadyNAS Backup FAQ

     

    The error about used disks is because the NAS has found that you've put disks with data in the NAS rather than blank unpartitioned disks. The NAS needs to wipe disks taken from your PC to be able to use them.
