My unit seems to run hot, or at least warm. Is this normal?

Most of the cable devices will be warm. Horizontal devices more warm than vertical ones.
NTGR devices have thermal cutoff feature, if it gets too hot (more than spec), it will shutdown by itself and display RED color LED on the Power.
It is good idea to keep the unit in well ventilated area with good airflow.
