C7800 KeyWord Blocking
I have this C7800 and i have been trying to use "KeyWord Blocking" with little to no success.
Certain sites I have entered like "TikTok" & "Skype" still come through even though they are in the blocked list.
TikTok for example I have entered in the block list in various forms of:
tiktok
it still shows no matter what wether I use Edge or Safari.
I have searched the KB community here on NetGear and it sounds like KeyWord Blocking is a joke anymore....
I have got it to work with some other "words" but it seems to pick and choose.
Is some subscription required ?
or
Did I really spend $400.00 plus dollars on a cable modem/router with a feature that is just a joke?
On previous netgear routers i have owned in the past the blocking was pretty bullet proof & almost over zelous
This is not my first "Rodeo" of using advanced features of a router....
( I really don't see keyword blocking and/or site blocking as an advanced feature )
Would be thankful for any insight into this
Thanks in advance

Re: C7800 KeyWord Blocking
The feature as-is is a dead horse, indeed. It worked back then for you because a lot of the Internet was still http - today it's https, and the legacy implementation can not intercept the traffic the same way anymore.
The world has changed. Netgear hasn't, at least not on their bread and butter products yet.
A replacement is just about to be phased-in on select models and product lines.

Re: C7800 KeyWord Blocking
Thanks for the quick reply, I was kinda thinking that was the answer.
I do not subscribe to social media sites so i have always blocked them....
I never cared for the ads, & other crap that goes with them, and there is always the threat of your photos being used without permission for example.
Side question for you ????
Do you know of an App Based solution that would plug in to Edge & Safari on Mac OS Big Sur that would key word block ?
Thanks again
