CLARIFICATION: Firmware files.

Netgear user guides and online documentation generally state that all firmware files are

.img or .chk extensions. This is incorrect. Netgear firmware files that I have seen

have had a .bin extension. If a downloaded file is a .zip it needs unpacking. If it is a .rar it

needs unpacking. When you finally have a .bin file you can load this file in as

firmware.

Documentation matters.

The .rar is a one time file format that should not have been compiled like that. Future FW .zip file should have the embedded actual files and not the packed .rar. ALL FW downloads are in .zip format. All actual FW files with in the .zip files will be .BIN, .CHK or .IMG.
