CM2050V firmware rolled back! ODFMA channel unlocked! No more higher upload speeds!
Yes it's true - I experienced this, and it's all over the Comcast and Reddit boards. I'll explain, but the hope is a FW fix for the 2050V is coming from Netgear.
The story - in my case - and it's happened to many in the last week - the modem restarted overnight, and as a result the FW version rolled back to 2.01.03 from 9.01. Also, the ODFMA upload channel is no longer locked. Since v. 9 was required for the mid-split higher upload speeds, as is an ODFMA locked channel, my service reverted back to 1400/35 from 1400/200.
I know many were seeing instability issues with the v. 9 FW on the 2050V, and there have been posts from installers etc. that Comcast has rolled that v 9 firmware out until NG provides a fix to the firmware that passes their tests. So in the mean time, no more higher speed upload.
As a point, the "approved for next gen speed" list by Comcast has been greatly pruned - the Nov 30 list is here.
Maybe we will hear here about a FW update being given to Comcast?

All FW handling will be done between NG and the ISP. We don't get to know anything. Something to ask the ISP about maybe sometime next year. NG and the ISP seem to be on stop of things.
