Configure C7000 as Access Point

Now my roommate has a wifi but it's too far for me to reach it. I would like to use my C7000 as an AP by connecting mine over wifi.

Here are some facts:

1. His wifi details:

    name: admin

    password: password

    router address: a.b.c.1

2. My router address: 192.168.0.1 (default)

Now could you please let me know how to configure the settings? I also wonder if it is possible to assign a different network name and password for my AP.

If you can run a ethernet cable from the host router to the C series modem, yes, it's a faux AP mode configuration but it should work...

You'll need to set a IP address to something what the host router uses, From 192.168.0.1 to a.b.c..70 is an example that you'll need to change on the modem. This will be the modems new IP address. You'll be able to access the modems web page here. This IP address do reside out side of the host routers default IP address DHCP pool. May need to adjust it.

Configure WiFi settings for your needs. SSID should be different along with using different far apart channels from what the host router is using.

Disable ALL other features like Armor, SPC, Traffic Meter, IPv6, Logging.

Then go in and disable the DHCP server, under Advanced tab/Setup/LAN Setup. After the modem is configured and you hit apply, connect the modem to the host router using one of the LAN ports in back of the modem with a ethernet cable. After the modem reboots, connect your wireless devices to the modems wifi. You should have internet access here.

Just know that the modems LEDS will blink all the time. Can put a post it note over the LED in front to hid these if you need too.

        No, will not work wirelessly.

Might check into a Power Line adapter system to help with the ethernet connection...could work.
