So are you say that Netgear actually pushed the firmware update without my having to install it? Not remembering what I had when it was brand new and I set it up for the first time. It was suggested to me to install firmware 1.4.11.2 and that system was running great. I now am having SO MUCH trouble with my 5g system, I can't run Netflix and one of my games. I'm going back to 1.4.11.2.

I downgraded my firmware from 1.4.12.2 to 1.4.11.2. If Netgear pushed that 1.4.12.2 version automatically then it went back to factory version. VERY UNSTABLE operation for me. 1.4.11.2 I had no problems with.

After v1.4.12.2 was on your CAX30, Had a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed afterwards? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

I'm currently using v1.4.12.2 on my CAX30 and not seeing any problems. Mine was auto udpated and I have not even power cycled or factory reset mine as of yet.

I'm having problems with my WiFi running Port City Tycoon.  If I power off the router I can load the game only 1 time.. After that I get an error message saying "Connection lost. Check your internet connection" All my other apps work fine and my speed check shows 455Mbps down and 18Mbps up. All of connect devices like garage door, solar, thermostats, phones, pcs, security cameras work with problems. I've left a message on Facebook for Port City but no response if it's their problem. My tablet is an Samsung and the game used to work flawlessly before I got the firmware push for 1.4.12.2 when I was running version 1.4.11.2. I've downgraded the firmware back to 1.4.11.2. I did a reboot and power off/ on. 

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have not done a wired pc to router setup. I've pushed the reset button on the back and powered off. When I access the router it has retained all the information. Right now I able to stream Netflix without a problem. I have set the DHCP IP to 100 and 200.

Next time try doing a factory reset by using the ERASE button on the modems WEB UI page:

How log did you press the reset button for? 10-15 seconds is minimum press time, then release. All user configurations should be erased. Recommend setting up with a ethernet connected PC and using a web browser at 192.168.1.1

Ok, sounds good. Thank you for the patience. NG IS aware of issues on the CAX30. Why we are helping out with some beta testing as this goes along. There working on it to get stuff fixed. 


Please post another Event Logs page as well. Don't clear anything, just copy and past the entire log section please. Remove any MAC addresses from the log before posting. Thank you.

Ok You have lots of Criticals that need to be looked at and reviewed by the ISP. Those indicate a signal line issue from the ISP up to the modem. All these report the status or condition of the signal up to the modem. 

 

Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box. 
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem. 
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

The signal on the modem side needs to be established and made good so we can be sure any FW loaded on the modem will be stable as well.

Thanks for the reply and help. Our house is 9 years old and there are no know splitters or any other connections from the street to the modem. We did have an unusual amount of rain, so there could be an issue at the street and the connection.  I supposedly have Xfinity's Gigabit plan with up to1000Mbps download and up to 20Mbps up. I get notices from Xfinity that I need to upgrade my modem "Your current device can't keep up with the latest speeds" but this NightHawk isn't that old and I'm happy with my current speeds. The reason I got the this unit it was on the Xfinity approved list. 

I see what I can get accomplished next.

p.s. As a side note it seems that it takes some time for program app graphics on both our Android phones to load. My Samsung S20+ speed tests show 650Mbps down and 18Mbps up using Ookla's app. My Win 10 speed test show 560Mbps down and 18Mbps up from their web site.

Have the line checked to be sure.

 

And of v.12.2 doesn't seem to work after all this, downgrade back to v.11.2 and let's see what we find on the next FW update from NG. 

 

Be aware that some ISP will market or push marketing information to push customers into getting new equipment when they really don't need it. The CAX30 and 80 is fully supporting of a 1Gb ISP line. What I have and both my CAXs work with this tier.

 

Also XF has supposedly moved there speed tiers to 800Mpbs and 1.2Gb now and has stopped the 1Gb speed tier. This started last year I guess. This seems to effect some areas where the ISP has operations and some haven't moved the 1Gb tier off the list as I know of others that still have it and its working for them. Other users, the upgraded 1.2Gb speed has caused some problems between the ISP and some modems they use as some modems don't have WAN ports that support 1.2Gb speeds, nor do the LAN ports. aswell on most home class routers. So were seeing some issues here and there with these higher speed tiers with 1Gb ported modems. In most cases the user can have the ISP downgrade to the 800Mpbs package and good operation should continue here. NG is aware of the issues that are tied to this.
