Firmware Update for AC1750 Smart Router

I'm experiencing some issues with a business VPN where a stable tunnel cannot be sustained in my home. I was asked to apply any firmware update to my router (AC1750 Smart Router) to see if that helps...

Cable modems can not be updated manually they are updated via ISP here is a link to what firmware your ISP is on.
