Firmware Update
I just read this article from a respected computer expert.
Yet, I'm told that as the purchaser of this modem/router, I'm not allowed to update myself, deferring to my ISP. It's Spectrum, and they're clueless.
Suggestions? HELP!!

Re: Firmware Update
Interesting, Im getting a unable to connect to that Link.

ERR_TUNNEL_CONNECTION_FAILED"
What modem model do you have?
Most NG C and CM series modems are not FW updatable by users. Only the CAX series on the router side is FW updatable by users.

Re: Firmware Update
I could pull up that article but it was super generic. Even its "identified router" was a netgear nighthawk which is a line of routers and not an actual model.
If you bought a modem/router combo device (unless its the CAX line), you're locked into your firmware by the ISP.
Netgear does release firmware updates and submits them to the ISP's. And the ISP's are supposed to certify them and push them out to users. But it costs $ to certify them. So they rarely do. And so they don't get pushed out.
Sadly, there isn't much users can do other than make sure to buy modems seperate from the routers next time. or go with the CAX line of modem/router combo devices.
