Modem to router speed slower than Modem to PC speed - RP614v2
Hello all! So Xfinity recently upgraded my bwidth fro 75 - 100Mbps :) I tried testing this 2 ways. I found the speed to exceed 100 Mbps via speedtest, when my pc was connected directly to my cable m...

So, since no one has responded yet, I will share what I've done so far. I had a small 4 port unmanaged switch in the network so when I eliminated that, the speed jumped up! The problem with home networking tech is that you never know for sure when the problem is a worn out or defective piece of equipment. Unless it's just dead, it's difficult to think of it being "broken".
I'm still not at the 300Mbs that I should be, so I think I will need to simply replace my router, unless anyone has anything I can try.

In my case, I think its just the router is too old. It doesnt even have gigabit ports. I just purchased the afore mentioned Asus router for a very good price. Waiting for it to arrive and will post results.

Nice!
I may be subject to the same. I think I will try as a last resort, loading the open source DD-WRT and if that doesn't work, I will buy a new one. Maybe the Nighthawk...

Thanks for the advice on the MTU. I did the same process you did and then checked my MTU in WAN and it was already set correctly(to 1500). I think the router should make a big difference. Will let you know. I have an Asus RT-AC3200 for my wifi currently. Was going to get the Nighthawk but man that is very expensive. This 3200 makes a huge difference though and I can walk around outside almost 100yds from my house and still be connected. Very happy with this. Now I just need a wired router and thats were the AC68U comes in to replace this ancient RP614.
