Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
Unfortunately nothing worked.
I did all the steps indicated and I\\the router still doesn't get the public address provided by the ISP.
Again, if I connect a laptop to the modem, which is in bridge mode, it immediately gets the IP address and internet access. But the router does not.
I have a back up router (Cisco RV130) and after following the steps and connecting it to the modem the exact same thing happens. V1 is down.
Both routers were working perfectly with another modem and another ISP two weeks ago. I moved to my new location, the new ISP required me to provide a DOCSIS 3.0 modem (I bought the NETGEAR C7000v2) and now neither of both routers can get the ISP's public IP correctly.
I have never had such a hard time with this modem plus router chaining.
I do not know if there is any incompatibility between NETGEAR modem and CISCO router. I confirm that the routers work perfectly because two weeks ago they were working properly.
I don't know what else to do
Thanks for your support
Daniel
