Netgear C6300v2 Questions and observations

Just converted from a long time use (8yrs) of previous NG modem.  Took me a bit to realize comcast has a new app to help activate because they also have an older one (which doesn't do that).

The installation guide says the 2.4 and 5Ghz lights flash with traffic. I have found that not to be true. They just stay green. When I consulted the larger user guide, it just says they stay lighted up. I'm wondering if the installation guide needs updated? The online version was a later revision but still incorrect.

I've seen others post about the 2.4ghz being slower than expected. I can say the newer modem speeds in that category are actually slower than the older modem in that band. Weird.  That said, the 5Ghz is as expected.

On the 2.4GHz band, when set to auto, I can see the channel jumping all over the place vs landing in one spot. I ended up moving it to stay at one channel. The 5Ghz is selected to 153.

Just wanted to share in case anyone had any thoughts

You can try switching channels on the 2.4ghz. maybe the one its auto-selecting has interference.

Something you might want to keep in mind. Xfnity (and cox) have both been pushing for people to upgrade to docsis 3.1 for the modems. they still support docsis 3.0 but they've been lowering the speed tiers that they'll support. And with the C6300 only being a 16x4 modem, expect them to lower the speed tier for its max speed. Which is fine if you only plan on using a 100mbps connection. But some of the ISP's like cox are requiring docsis 3.1 for speed tiers >250mbps. I know xfinity recently started lower it but not sure what they're at.

So if you're planning on upgrading speeds at some point, that might not be the best modem/router device for you.
