Netgear CAX80 cable modem router
To piggy back off this. Where is the setting to disable firmware updates? I downgraded mine and it auto updates. I looked everywhere online on how to disable it.

The CAX modems don't have the ability to disable auto FW updates.
Are you having problems with your CAX80? If so, please describe what your experiencing.

Issues are:
-Dropping internet at random times. (only happens on wifi connections, wired never drops)
It drops for a few moments then comes back (pages fail to load, video stops buffering). I initially thought it was the wifi bands competing against each other but have tried disabling each to rule that out. It happens regardless if 2g or 5g. I also notice when it drops due to my nest cameras going offline.
-Ping ponging between wifi bands.
I have disabled one band and also tried turning down transmit power on each to make sure there wasnt some conflict going on. No result. Its not a channel issue as I live out in the middle of nowhere. I do not have neighbors to contend with. No its not in front of a microwave or appliance. It sits in an office in the middle of a 1 story house.
-Range deterioration despite being in the same spot as its always has been.
I had this mode/router for about a year so it started happening during the winter. I noticed the last firmware update was dated NOV 2022. So about the same time it was released and probably when it updated.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many? How do you have Basic and Advanced Wireless settings configured on the modem?
Do you have Smart Connect and AX mode enabled on the modem? Have you tried these disabled?
What devices do you have connected?
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status and event log page.

-Using auto. I will give manual ones a try but since I don't have close neighbors I wouldn't figure this to be the issue.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?-One at most. Very weak signal.
How do you have Basic and Advanced Wireless settings configured on the modem?
-No advanced settings beyond configuring DNS. I've already tried removing those.
Do you have Smart Connect and AX mode enabled on the modem? Have you tried these disabled?
-I tried disabling Smart Connect since it felt like a band steering issue but did not see any improvement. I have left AX mode as is since what I was able to find on it didn't sound like it would be causing my issues.
What devices do you have connected?
- 2 wired PC's, 1 Roku, 2 Nest cameras, Nest Doorbell, Nest Thermostat, 2 iphones, 1 ipad, and a wireless printer.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
-2.1.5.2 is loaded as it auto updates to that. I was attempting to use 2.1.4.2 for the brief time it was loaded it felt like it resolved my issues but then it auto updated so could just be coincidence.
I feel like the gateway might be on its way out but since its out of warranty/rma period already and it was pricey to begin with, I was just going to put up with its issues until it dies.

How do you have Basic and Advanced Wireless settings configured on the modem? Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
So v2.1.4.2 worked well then before the modem auto updated?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.
