If you can access the a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI), the firmware version should show up there. But as plemans says, it is beyond your control:
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Log In to the Cable Modem
You didn't answer the question from plemans about any problems you might have.
They aren't likely to be down to modem, especially its firmware, but you never know.
Just another user with time on their hands.

The issue I am trying to figure out is I have 1 gig though my service provider and I am only getting 500-750, through a wired connection. I had my ISP come out and check everything but they said it was all good. They will NOT do anything with my router or my modem because I don't rent the equipment from them. I checked the firmware on my router and it is up to date. My router is a TP Link AC4000 (wifi 5), so I wanted to check my modem firmware, thus the reason for this thread.

I think I figured it out, why the slower speeds when wired. I turned off the firewall, malware and antivirus security features built into the router. After doing that, I was up to 910 to 930.
On a side note, I still feel that I should be able to update the firmware on my modem, just like I can update it on my router! Since my ISP won't update my modem firmware because I don't rent it from them!!
I appreciate everyones help....

I think we all think that but its part of the docsis spec. Half the reason is that if users could change firmware, they could change their speed tier as that's set with the modem provisioning.
Its one of the reasons you'll rarely see forum members recommend the modem/router combo devices as their firmware is locked too. (except the CAX series, the router side can be upgraded but not the modem side.
This not being able to update modems is true for all brands.
