The connection is good, I used it for a cable tv box with MOCA and it worked. Also I have verizon fios, and yes I know fios is a fiber optic connection, but the cable that feeds the coax splitter that then goes to my room comes from the ONT for MOCA so you can watch youtube and such on your FIOS TV box. I am simply using the modem as a access point to put the ethernet in my PC for better response time and speeds since wifi is garbage

I would guess that the CM modem is getting a incorrect signal from the MOCA line and isn't compatible or getting a correct signal. the CM modem requires a specific signal for it to work right.
