Nighthawk CAX30 modem stopped working router still fine
Would it be likely that just the modem portion of this device would fail? The router works fine, but the downstream light flashes while the upstream and internet indicators are dark. We just had Xf...

So no visible data down below that has power and correctables and such on the page?
With the ISP cable coax disconnected from the modem along with all other ethernet devices, try a 30-30-30 reset on the modem. Use a stop watch or timer to time the 30 second presses:
With the router plugged in and powered on, depress the reset button for 30 seconds. This button is usually a tiny dot recessed into the back of the modem. You may need a jeweler's screwdriver or a bent paperclip to access it.
While still holding down the button, unplug the modem from its power source for another 30 seconds.
With the reset button still held down, turn the power back on and hold for another 30 seconds.

No change. Still just a flashing downstream white indicator.
All three (internet, upstream and downstream) flash white on start up, but only downstream continues flashing.

You'll need to reach out to NG support and see what your options are then.

Then clicking on "Get answers about NETGEAR products before I buy" then clicking on "Networking for Home" then "Chat with us".Good Luck.

Something I'd suggest, get a separate modem and router units. That way if the modem quits working, you still have a separate router working for the next modem, if the modem fails again.
Please take a look at the CM series of modems. Check with your ISP first to see which modem they support on there system. https://www.netgear.com/home/wifi/modems/
Then find you a separate router unit that fits your needs:
