Router based VPN
Hello all, So I've been wanting to set up a router based VPN for obvious reasons and recently read an article about using Wire Guard (they use Proton VPN as the example, and that also is what I'd lik...

I did send Proton an email yesterday. I will let you know if and (hopefully) when they respond, or if they don't in a reasonable time frame.

Well, Proton did get back to me and basically said I can use either OpenVPN or WireGuard and provided a couple of links for more information on the web, but really couldn't tell me whether or not Proton VPN would work as a router based VPN.
It was worth a try.

On my Proton VPN web site (not within the program itself) there is a setup page where one ostensibly can set up either OpenVPN or WireGuard, though. It's all one needs to download the proper config file for whatever platform one is on, including "router". Of course, and with some foreknowledge of problems I've had in the past when attempting to do something akin to this that caries risks, I am hesitant to try, and may go with a software solution instead. That works for my pc and phone and tablet, but not the other connected devices.

Just as a follow up, purchased a subscription to Nord VPN today, using it so far on Windows and my Android phone, seems to work very nice with little loss of speed (at least while I'm connected to New York), and while I probably could get it to work on the router, at this juncture not willing to take the risk. Really, the only other device that won't be able to use it, I think, is my one tv. I may see if it does have the ability, I can download apps to the tv.
Anyway, have a good evening.
