Netgear Nighthawk CAX30 (it isn't in the "model" list)
It appears I can not set the DNS server to be local. My DNS (pi-hole) is at 192.168.1.2 but when I try to configure it, it replies that it is not a valid address.
Just trying to get confirmation that this is true.
I plan to turn off DHCP on the router and use the DHCP in the pi-hole as a work around.

Re: Set local DNS server
I've got a pihole and ran it on my cax80 so it should be pretty similar.
did you set it up in both the standard internet setup page and on the IPv6 page?
do you have a screen snip of what you're doing and the error? that helps.

Re: Set local DNS server
Right now, I have more fundamental problems it seems. The Odroid (Pi-hole) wasn't working so I uninstalled everthing, got back to the normal state, then installed it again and again, the Pi itself can't resolve anything. I'm not sure what is going on.
I'll get back to you when I get past this hurdle.
Thank you for your time.

Re: Set local DNS server
Never ran pi-hole on an odroid. Ran it on a r-pi and in a docker container.
Have you ran pihole before?
Do you have your dns settings setup in the pi-holes settings menu?
You still need a dns resolver, it just filters it.

Re: Set local DNS server
So, after two days of research and debugging, I fully understand how Ubuntu-Mate does DNS. Sigh!!! And I got my pi-hole working for IPv4. Currently the DHCP is on the router. The packet sent to the clients has the router as the DNS but it forwards to the pi-hole's IPv4 address.
My question: the IPv6 address of the pi-hole I have but I can't find anywhere to enter it in the web based configure pages. It might not be important at all but I thought I would ask to see where it is -- if indeed it exists at all.

Re: Set local DNS server
did you get it setup properly?
When its running, pi-hole is great.
I've debated on setting up a 2nd one for when my primary goes offline (happens since its in a container and updates/reboots/etc)

Re: Set local DNS server
Yes. I got the router to behave and got the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses in it. Pi-hole is working and I am using unbound which is a recursive DNS server so no one can really track my DNS queries.
Thank you for your help.
