Unusual Connectivity Drops with NETGEAR CM1200 Cable Modem – Seeking Insight
I hope this post finds you well. I've been encountering an unusual issue with my NETGEAR CM1200 Cable Modem in the context of home networking. Despite having a seemingly stable connection for the past few months, I've recently noticed intermittent connectivity drops that last for a few seconds before re-establishing.
I've tried the standard troubleshooting steps like rebooting the modem and checking cable connections, but the issue persists. The modem's firmware is up to date, and there haven't been any recent changes to my network setup.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems with the CM1200? If so, how did you go about resolving them? I'm particularly interested in any specific settings or configurations that might be contributing to this intermittent connectivity.

Got a copy of the cable connections page and event logs from the modem?
That lets us check the line and look for issues. You can check part of the line yourself.
Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, loose connections, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
If you can, simply connect the modem right where the coax comes into the home. This prevents wiring in the home from being the issue. And some ISP’s charge if the wiring issue is in the home. So this helps prevent this.
