I got the old version fimware is old and i need the new version so i can use the Nighthawk APP.

on the modem/router combo devices, the isp controls the firmware. They're not user upgradeable and netgear can't force the ISP to update it. Netgear does supply the firmware to the ISP but its updated at their discretion. And they don't like to do it because it costs them (the isp) money to certify it.
If your firmware is outdated, you cannot manually upgrade your cable modem’s or modem router’s firmware. You must contact your Internet service provider (ISP) to upgrade your firmware.
