router randomly drops internet on one wifi device

For months now, my C7000-100NAS wifi router has been randomly dropping the internet for my MacBook Pro multiple times per day.  This happens on the regular and 5G access points. I work around this by disabling/enabling wifi.  I thought this was a wifi connectivity issue at first, but here's the kicker:

I can still connect over wifi to my router's Genie admin portal!  I can switch pages and make configurations like normal even while I can't access Google or any other site.  I've tried pinging IPs too, and this also fails until I've re-connected.  Why on earth would I be able to access my router over wifi but not the internet?

This problem does not happen to any of the other wifi devices in my household, nor does it happen to my macbook when cabled in.

Router model: C7000-100NAS

Router firmeware: V1.01.15

ISP: Spectrum (their support tech claims I have the latest firmware version available from Spectrum)

Re: router randomly drops internet on one wifi device

Spectrum recently upgraded my router firmware to V1.01.23, and this seems to have fixed the problem.  Cat Happy

Hello Sp4cem0nkey

Have you made sure the MAC has the latest wireless drivers?

Sounds like a router problem, doesn't it?

That would seem to rule out a DNS problem.  If you can reach the
router, but not "ping" any outside-world system, even by IP address
(assuming that you're using a valid one -- 8.8.8.8 is popular), then
it's a mystery.

No Access Control, Parental Control, or Schedule settings to cause
trouble?

   Same IP address, or different?

When things get especially squirrelly, it may be time to try a full
("factory") reset (and reconfiguration) of the router.

It's a Mac[intosh] not a Media Access Control, and the typical user
has approximately no control over any device drivers, other than
whatever Apple Software Update does.

Re: router randomly drops internet on one wifi device

Dang it!  It started happening again.  I'm going to buy another brand of router.  This is ridiculous.
