C7500 Nighthawk Spectrum Does Not Upgrade Firmware

After about three years that I have C7500 as my cable modem, the WIFI keeps disconnecting. I am trying to upgrade the firmware but it is impossible because:

1. Netgear says that they pushing the new firmware to ISP (Spectrum in this case) and they push it to the cabal modem.

2. Spectrum says one of the following depending on who answers their support line:

Answer Version 1: We do not upgrade third party cable modem firmware. Did Netgear know this?

Answer Version 2: The version that you see (V1-01-32) is the letest that Spectrum has.

V1-01-32 is the same version as 3 years ago when I purchased this C7500 cable modem. All other ISPs have at least V1-01-35.

I do not know why Netgear does not let us upgrade our own firmware. Spectrum is not going to upgrade our firmware. If this is the support that Netgear provides, I will never never buy another Netgear product again.

Thanks for any help.

Best,

What NG gives for information regarding NG modem FW they send out to ISPs. Some will update user owned modem. Spectrum not being one of these.

I do not know why Netgear does not let us upgrade our own firmware. Spectrum is not going to upgrade our firmware. If this is the support that Netgear provides, I will never never buy another Netgear product again.

Actually this is a DOCSIS modem specification that was handed down to ISPs along with ISPs experiencing problems prior history that when ISPs used to update user owned modems as the norm, the FW what was sent gave problems or caused the modem to not work or bicked the modem. Thus the ISP incurred costs to get the user owned modems replaced. So some ISPs got burned in this historical process so ISP figured to avoid this cost, some ISPs would no longer update user owned modems. Some ISPs otther than Spectrum have put in place some testing processes where modem mfrs like NG, will send the ISP any FW updates, the ISP will then test the new FW on there systems first, then will push out to user owned modems. Again, NOT all ISPs do this. So this isn't a NG issue or caused by NG.
