Cannot locate network name
Purchased new CM700 Cable Modem. I have Windows 10, Comcast/Xfinity. Prior to purchasing, I confirmed that it was acceptable to use for my cable plan. I followed directions for modem on connect...

Perhaps that's because you bought a "new CM700 Modem", which is only
a modem, not a wireless router. (So you have no wireless network.)

I don't know what that was, but Comcast/Xfinity will often call a
modem+router (gateway) product a "modem", but it really provides two
functions (modem, router) in one package. You now have a modem. You
also need a (wireless) router. You can keep the CM700 (modem) and add a
router, or swap the CM700 for a modem+router combination.
OK, I'm about to prove how ignorant I am about these things . . . so, I did purchase a router as well, but reading the directions, I was under the impression that I had to connect to the wifi through the modem in order to set up the router. I attempted to connect the router though because I was running out of options. The router seemed to look as if it was connected ok, but the bottom light on the modem was orange . . . no idea what that light means, as there was no explanation with the modem.

I'd bet that the CM700 User Manual would explain that.

But what do _you_ know? As usual, showing actual actions (commands)
with their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be
more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.Knowing nothing about your (unspecified) "a router", it's tough to be
sure, but I'd guess that its User Manual would be a good place to start
reading about how to set this stuff up. Your ISP might also supply some

The first thing to learn is where to find the documentation.
