Nighthawk C7000 AC1900 I cannot login to change settings

I cannot login to change my settings, model C7000 (only choice R7000), have not changed password. The password genie comes up and asks me for the serial number and my mothers middle name which I never gave netgear. Have tried everything short of factory reset same result password does not work

This seems, to me, to be a problem with almost every netgear modem/router why don't they fix it. Well with my experience they probably do not know how, their technical prowess is completely absent. This modem has been the biggest computer nightmare I have ever experienced, I would never ever ever buy another netgear product.

I want to try a factory reset. Do I loose the SSID the factory set and the password I am not worried about the settings?

I am worried about doing anything as netgears tact has been to sell support at all costs as soon as possible.

    Have you tried to log into the unit via the web browser using 192.168.0.1 instead of using the genie app?

      I tired logging in at 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.0. Followed all the instructions to fix the login that are posted on the internet. Nothing worked. As a last resort rebooted everything and was able to log on. Changed my modem settings and everything seems OK. Have no clue why that worked but it did.
