c7000v2 Absurd Product
This product does not allow the user to install new firmware and Spectrum will not perform this task. The solution to this problem is NEVER buy another Netgear product. Ignore the other "solutions"...

1-Neither ISP (will) nor user (can) update modem/router firmware.
2-APP can no longer access the modem/router as the APP hangs at firmware outdated and directs the user to loginrouter.net.
3-Login on the website via computer can access the router, however, there is no portal for firmware update.
4-Eventually the firmware obsolescence will slow and brick the modem/router with the ISP and Netgear pointing fingers at each other.

1-Neither ISP (will) nor user (can) update modem/router firmware.---The isp CAN update the firmware. Netgear sends them updated firmware. Problem with the system is the ISP has to certify it and that costs them $ so they don't. Netgear can't force them to update it. All they can do is supply the files and hope they do. If you look on the "firmware version" for your device, you'll see its different for each ISP.
2-APP can no longer access the modem/router as the APP hangs at firmware outdated and directs the user to loginrouter.net.----When you log into the gui via the browser, make sure have your time zone set on the appropriate time zone. I've seen that cause issues with the ISP pushing the update (if it isn't current for your isp) or letting you access using the app. If that doesn't help, I'd avoid the app anyway and the gui has better info (imo). You can use a mobile device using the browser.
3-Login on the website via computer can access the router, however, there is no portal for firmware update.---Again, its not user updateable.
4-Eventually the firmware obsolescence will slow and brick the modem/router with the ISP and Netgear pointing fingers at each other.---Eventually time and no updates gets all devices. Its faster with modem router combo devices. Its even worse with ISP supplied devices as they're even more rarely updated. Again, one more reason you won't see the people on here recommending combo devices.
