looking for Network Magic replacement?
I have a large SOHO network that occasionally has issues.
It consists of:
Fios as ISP
Netgear FVS336G as firewall/DHCP server
Netgear 24 port unmanged switch as backbone
2 x Netgear GS105s where I need extra ports
2 x Linsys Access Points (sorry) covering two buildings
5 x Network printers
2 x Rokus
2 x VOIP devices (4-lines)
1 x Media PC
1 x Netgear Raid Box (4Tb)
3 x Network Video Cameras
1 x USB over Ethernet extender
8 x PCs (Mostly Win7, some winXP)
4 x Tablets (on the Wifi, Android and IOS)
I have tried a variety of Network Map/Monitor software packages, and many of them are ONLY SNMP aware and miss a lot of my network. The Only thing I have found that sees all of my network is Cisco's (sorry) Network Magic. Unfortuanatly this is no longer available/supported. I tried Wireshark and got nowhere with it...lots of packet detail, nothing about devides or bandwidth.
Is there something CURRENT out there similar to Network Magic that will help me manage this uhm...mess?
Most issues are temporary, someone hogging bandwidth, and occasional DHCP problem, etc. I would like to monitor Bandwidth so we can upgrade when it makes SENSE, as the occasional slowdown when 3 people are streaming videos is NOT a reason to buy more Bandwidth from FIOS. >95% of the time we are fine on bandwidth.
