Support both multicast IPTV and unicast traffic to the same wired port
Hi,
I recently been informed that the Nighthawk R8000 is inferior to my old BT Home Hub 4 (UK Multicast TV service hardware) which supports unicast internet and multicast for TV services simultaneously.
If Netgear support IPTV multicast and Unicast on the same ethernet port many British Telecom customers would be able to make a straight swap of their routers.
Please make your flagship better!
Cheers,
Wayne.

Hi,
I am also having exactly the same problem with my Nighthawk R7000.
My ISP is Plusnet, and currently the only way I can watch Plusnet TV is to use their own Sagemcom router.
This is an inferior router to the R7000, poor WiFi and 100 Meg LAN Ports. But it can supply IPTV, which the R7000 can't.
Please update the firmware to support IPTV multicast and unicast internet on the same LAN Port, so that Plusnet customers can again use their R7000 as the main router.
Thanks,
Garry
I am also annoyed that I paid £140.00 for a Netgear Router, but have had to resort to using a BT Home Hub as I cannot use BT vision otherwise. Come on please - fix it, as I have purcahsed in good faith!

C'Mon Netgear. Looks like the R7000 has this functionality now, so what about the R8000? Any update, eta, or even an acknowledgement would be useful.
I am a little disappointed that I have to dig the HH out to get this functionality when I have a supposed premium router now sat as a glorified wireless AP.
I have just subscribed to BT TV and can't get the internet channels with my R8000. Other Netgear routers have got firmware updates to overcome this deficiency. Please do the same for the R8000 very soon.
I thought I had bought a high end router here, it looks like I will have to get another BT Home Hub. I am very disappointed.
