Update USB Drivers to Support Western Digital My Book storage devices

Please add USB updates to the firmware to support higher capacity WD USB Drives.  My R6400 firmware version is V1.0.1.18_1.0.15.

Netgear puts effort into the ReadyShare/ReadyCloud s/w, I hope they can put effort into providing firmware updates

that support more brands and higher capacity WD external disk drives.   Alternatively, provide information on workarounds to get these drives to work on the Netgear Routers (R6400 in my case).

On my R6400 I tried both a WD 6TB and then a WD 3TB My Book drives but neither would work on my R6400.

In searching the Netgear Community Forums, I see a number of others have problems using WD My Book drives.

I know there is a list compatibiliy-list but here in Canada, I can't find any of the specific WD models to purchase.

  • I'll add for R7000 for a firmware update to support a WD MY BOOK 6TB USB 3.0. Model: WDBBGB0060HBK-NESN. I have firmware version V1.0.7.10_1.2.3.

Same here if there is a workaround to get this drive to work.

    Thanks,

    J

Hi, our engineering has done the investigation and found a potential issue with firmware. We are working on the fix. I am closing the thread here as this is a bug but we will contact you on the original thread when we have a firmware for you to test if you are willing.

I know it but I repeat myself by saying that the information should be avalable in a better and more accecible way.

Looks like Netgear does not really understand this part of this business. When we see community reports that certain larger capacity industry standard storage blocks are not recognized, some routers fail to detect any storage on the USB 3.0 port, exFAT is still not available as a file system, some routers model firmware builds come with notes claiming that for usage XY the file size is limited to NNN and the like, many things are wrong.

  • I do not know what is happening on the managment side but they are leaving us into the ditch for good!!
