DDClient - by WhoCares - I hope this one will work
Finally a new dyn dns client, D(yn)D(ns)Client, thanks WhoCares:

What are your experiences on this?
Hey Netgear, I can't understand why you don't have a dyn dns client built-in in FrontView - it amazes me. Let me remind you that it's 2012.

- DnsOMatic - didn't work for all hosts (as promised) and used dum constant updates and we got warnings from DynDNS etc.
DynDns - the old one, might work, never worked for me.

- Dewdman42VirtuosoLooks great, but why is it only sparc if its just a perl script? I could really use this on my intel box
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDewdman42 take a look in the x86 (Intel) community add-ons forum and you'll find this thread: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=62340
- Dewdman42VirtuosoThanks a lot for that! So why are people opting to use this solution instead of DnsOMatic. Sorry for my stupid questions, but I'm learning quick.

Simply because what I wrote in the first post. The DNS-o-Matic add-on doesn't behave properly. - Dewdman42VirtuosoThanks for the heads up I will try that
- etonLuminaryDamn, it seems like I will have trouble even with Whocares D(yn)D(ns)Client. I've just revived a expiration warning from DynDNS by e-mail.
- Dewdman42VirtuosoDynDNS stopped being free. I have been using DDClient with no-ip.com and works fine.

Which client, D(yn)D(ns)Client by WhoCares? And what does your configuration string look like? - Dewdman42VirtuosoNo the DynDns service used to be free in years past, but it is not longer free to use their service.
That is why i switched to DDClient and then you can sign up with one of its supported services, they have quite a few it supports. I chose no-ip.com. - etonLuminaryThanks but that was not what I asked about. Or do you use the old one:
Dyndns Client by super-poussin
viewtopic.php?f=47&t=22415
Or just the classic ddclient:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/ddclient
No-IP is not represented at DDClient support pages:
http://sourceforge.net/p/ddclient/wiki/protocols/
But my guess is that they are user friendly and support the standard config:
## single host update
protocol=noip, \
login=userlogin@domain.com, \
password=noip-password \
myhost.no-ip.biz
And I finally understood why most of my DynDNS.org addresses stopped working. The free accounts at DynDNS must be updated at least every 30 days, but not with the same IP. So that leaves me and a lot of others out. Because the dynamic IP provided by my ISP changes very seldom.
Edit: updated link to DDClients supported protocols.
