ddclient setup on RN102
Trying to set up ddclient on RN102 and can't seem to figure it out. Currently running latest firmware 6.1.6. Downloaded and installed without a problem. However the "launch" button is grayed out. Toggling on and off does nothing. Maybe that's the problem?
Edited ddclient.conf file as follows, which came from dyndns website - probably don't need everything in it, but I'm not sure what I need...
## ddclient configuration file
daemon=600
# check every 600 seconds
syslog=yes
# log update msgs to syslog
mail-failure=XXX@xxx.com # Mail failed updates to user
pid=/var/run/ddclient.pid
# record PID in file.
## Detect IP with our CheckIP server
use=web, web=checkip.dyndns.com/, web-skip='IP Address'
## DynDNS username and password here
login=(purposefully left blank for this post)
password=(purposefully left blank for this post)
## Default options
protocol=dyndns2
server=members.dyndns.org
## Dynamic DNS hosts
(purposefully left blank for this post)
Thanks for the help!

- arnomcAspirantfor the greyed launch button it's pretty normal as it does the same thing for me. DDNS is a so light application that you don't need to turn it off, or you just uninstall it.
about your configfile. I can't see any problem. I nearly have the same file. I only noticed that you forgot to put a 'return chariot' before "# Mail failed updates..."
Maybe when you write your post. Just have a look in your file.
Have you reboot your NAS ? And you could also try to reset permissions access to the config file (maybe?).
note: recheck three times the login, pass, and address you couldn't wrote in this post. - bte4AspirantThanks for the reply. Triple checked the login, pass, and address, all of which are correct. Put the return in as you suggested. Also checked permissions, and they're rwx for everyone. I went back and specifically changed my ipaddress at dyndns.com to be incorrect to see if it will update correctly. Not sure how else to check it to see if it's working. Any ideas on how to check it to see if it is trying to do anything? Thanks so much!
- sas137AspirantAnyone got that combination RN102 / ddclient /no-ip (or any other) really running?
Moved the system after the latest (6.2.4) update and wanted to use no-ip to get a dynamic dns entry .... no luck - ddclient exits with (according to loganalyzer) a missing perl-ssl-lib error:FATAL: Error loading the Perl module IO::Socket::SSL needed for SSL connect.
followd byFATAL: On Debian, the package libio-socket-ssl-perl must be installed.
the ON/OFF switch is after some time/page-reloads in the OFF-Position again.
What's going on?
Oh, and before anyone asks THAT - I did not tinker with the system .... - bte4AspirantUnfortunately, I gave up... I tried troubleshooting it for a while and never could get it to work. I don't remember error messages though - it just didn't work.

Here you go:

And stay away from DynDNS.org, they are not what they used to be. - sas137AspirantWell, I'm not prepared to give up, yet. Apps which are downloaded from the former Genie-Marketplace and insofar part of the distributed system per se should be working. At least without claiming that a vital component is missing ....
- bte4AspirantIf you get it to work, please post how you did it. I think a lot of people would find it really useful.
- etonLuminaryOk, straight to the point:

Also straight to the point: ThoseFATAL: Error loading the Perl module IO::Socket::SSL needed for SSL connect.
followd byFATAL: On Debian, the package libio-socket-ssl-perl must be installed.
should be independent from where I registered, since the failure is even before connecting to an DynDNS service, right? Ans since I didn't uninstall anything from that system, I feel a bit, well, stumped .... - etonLuminary

Ah sorry. But that doesn't look like a ddclient error. More like problem with "Perl module IO" and "libio-socket-ssl-perl".
Have you tried to install the apt-get version of ddclient?
