Firmware 6.10.5 web interface broken in final release
My RN10200 had a 2tb drive die - so I replaced with two 4TB Seagate Iron Wolf NAS drives. There was a notice that a new version of the firmware was available 6.10.5 so I figured I should update this....
- May 09, 2021
I was eventually able to get Firefox on my laptop to get on the the NAS web interface after doing a lot of playing around clearing caches/histories, etc. So I chose the firmware update feature in the interface to go back to the 6.10.3 version. After a reboot this seem to allow access to the NAS interface from everywhere again. So I'm not sure what the advantages might be of 6.10.5 - but the problems with the web interface seem to negate any improvements that might be in the latest version. So I'd be wary of this available update and treat the latest version as being still in beta.
The 6.10.3 inteface does keep coming up and saying that a later release (6.10.4) is available and do I want to install that. But after my experience with 6.10.5 I think I'll keep replying to ignore the optional update and stick with 6.10.3 that has been stable for a long while.
Regards,
Chuck.

People who are able to access FrontView at all are just lucky to do so. The flaw is persistent on every browser and is definitely a FV problem. And instructions for downgrading if you still have SSH access makes life a lot easier.
You should downgrade right away to 6.10.4. (I did that and the problem went away). Contrary to other posts - it has NOTHING to do with the browser version you're using to access the unit - it happens on all browsers - again - it's a flaw in frontview.
Here are the instructions for the ARM unit (RN102):
NB: (you MUST be ssh'ed in as 'root'):
cd /root wget http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/ReadyNASOS-6.10.4-arm.zip unzip ReadyNASOS-6.10.4-arm.zip echo /root/ReadyNASOS-6.10.4-arm.img > /etc/.flash_update reboot
There is a hotfix that needs to be applied to that release and it will automatically be applied if your NAS settings permit hotfixes to be automatically applied... otherwise - do as you see fit.
Just ignore any further updates to 6.10.5 until they get their act together.

I have two RN104s and it has taken 3 days of trial and error before this finally worked.
Many thanks to who ever originally posted it.

I will certainly be ignoring all updates for some time until they are tried and proven for a significant time interval.
This is what I tried many times some with different combinations before:
1. Install firmware to 6.10.4 via web login. I got a Commuication error.
2. Hard reset to Factory Defaults with hard drives removed. Failed with a do_exit+c48 and no response. Disconnected power to restart.
3. Hard Reset to Factory Defaults with hard drives inserted. Updated firmware to 6.10.5 Hot Fix.
4. USB firmware update. The RN104 updated firmware once and rebooted and then updated firmware a second time and the rebooted back to 6.10.5. I suspect that the first FW update was to 6.10.4 and then was overwritten by 6.10.5 held on the hard drives. But just guessing.
5. SSH was not enabled. Luckily I was able to enable SSH in between the login loops. Used MS Edge instead of Firefox to avoid login loops.
6. Used SSH to downgrade the firmware to 6.10.4 and all seem stable at the moment.
Note to Netgear:
The 6.10.5 Hot Fix 1 might have worked for some, but it is far from fixed for others.
It seems this problem has been around since May. It seems Netgear is asleep at the wheel............
Hope this info helps others who are still looking for a solution.
