LMS for OS6
A LMS (Logitech Media Server) add-on for OS6 would be great.
I am thinking about upgrading to the new OS but need LMS (even if its obsolete).
Anyone got it running from source?

That sounds great super-poussin, how do we get it?
I don't have an OS6 machine yet, but this is the only reason I'm not getting one.

Oh I see.
How is it installed?
See the readme in the directory. You can install via frontview from the apps tab and see the upload icon top right. Or if you are comfortable with SSH and Linux you can do it from the CLI.

Thanks. I'll consider the purchase now.
How would plugins work with this version, as normal?

Govnah - is the lms deb file a custom build? If so, what did you modify? Maybe we can handle this in a simpler way, so users don't depend on you providing builds.

the lms deb file is the interface for frontview so after installing lms and the logitec deb , you can upgrade the logitech deb without need to insall lms deb file again

Re: LMS for OS6
Hello Super-Poussin. Firstly, thank you for your add on. I managed to install it first time on my Netgear 312. Unfortunately it stopped working just when it was about to finish the library scan. I couldnt get it going at all so I decided to unistall and reinstall it. I followed the same procedure but it comes up with a message saying the second file (lms deb file) failed to install. Then when I go to the app page I can see the LMS app and when I click to turn it on it comes up with a a screen saying 'toggling service - this might take a few minutes', I get the timer going around and it just hangs. Would really appreciate any help you can offer.

Re: LMS for OS6
Thanks super-poussin. Unfortunately still the same problem. 1.0.3 fails to install. Although when I go to apps and see the LMS icon it says installed. I try to turn it on and it just hangs. Could there be a problem with readygear app site because when I go to 'available' in apps it just gives me the timer and doesnt show any apps. When it was working I could see all the available apps.

Re: LMS for OS6
Can you post the server.log, from /var/log/squeezeboxserver#?
I don't even use the Apps/Available from frontview as it is severely broken and buggy. I would turn off Genie+market place and just use apt-get and dpkg if you are comfortable SSHing into the box.

Re: LMS for OS6
Hi,
Thanks for creating LMS GUI for ReadyNAS OS 6.
I have problem, I can't play any of my local music files, all players get same error: Can't open file for: [song title]
All files are in Apple Lossless format.
In server side there is no errors in logs.
I have couple of files in mp3 format and those work fine.
I have tested both 7.7.2 and 7.8.0 versions.
Any idea what could be wrong?

Re: LMS for OS6
User rights are ok, everyone has read access to all music files.
All music files has idendical rights, mp3 files work fine but apple lossless don't.
I even tried: su - squeezeboxserver and then tried to access those files and those are accessble.
One odd thing, with version 7.7.2 all three Radio, Duet and Transporter give same error.
But 7.8.0 Radio plays those files, but Duet and Transporter don't.

Re: LMS for OS6
I made test and converted some music files to flac format, those are working fine.
Made Test directory and copied both m4a and flac files to there with identical file rights and owners.
Added Test directory to LMS Media Folder
Rescan changes
Try to play files from that Test media directrory.
Flac files play fine but ma4 don't.
