Must RAX45 have VPN enabled to use the Nighthawk app when away from home network?
Must RAX45 have VPN enabled to use the Nighthawk app when away from home network?
I am traveling and trying to use the Nighthawk app to reset some access control. But the app is saying the router can't be reached.
I have successfully used the app a lot. This is new and I am wondering if it was because the VPN service is disabled.
I'm hoping maybe the router is just frozen and needs a power cycle, which a friend can do for me. But talking them through making a wired connection and accessing the admin page would be a lot more hassle.
TIA

You should be able to access it away from home is anywhere access is enabled.

Thank you. I thought so. I'll have a friend power cycle it and see if that works.

That worked for me with the Anywhere Access app. I can now see the router.
The reason I was needed to do this is because I f'd up and turned off the VPN service, locking myself out while I'm away.
I also have Access Control turned on. Now that the router is back online, I'm wondering if I can use Anywhere Access to allow a new device to connect, even though I'm not myself able to access the home network.
I seem to recall that in the Device Manager section of the Anywhere Access Nighthawk app, an attempt to connect would show up and I could grant access in the app. Am I remembering correctly, or just wishful thinking?
I would just give it a try, but a neighbor is doing this for me and I don't want to keep asking them to try to connect and waste their time.
