Nighthawk app missing remote management, speed test, and blank device names

I am running Nighthawk app version 2.8.1.0 (this version was loaded from the apple app store tonight).  I do not have speed test functionality, I cannot enable remote management because it does not exist in my app, and I am having an issue with device names coming up blank.  Anyone else out there experiencing the same with the Nighthawk app?  I put in a call to Netgear support and actually spoke to someone who then transferred me to the "expert" support team.  I waited for 1 hr 15 min and then the call was dropped.  Go figure!

My router:  C7000v2.

Internet:  xfinity

nldl8485,

Thanks for the info. We recently release version 2.8.2.0 for the Nighthawk app (iOS). May you reinstall and let me know if your issue persists.

I see that my nighthawk app was upgraded to 2.8.2.0. However, i still do not see remote management or speed test functionality.

Hi. A couple weeks ago I had a speed test tile. Then it has disappeared, I can’t check my speed on my r7000 nighthawk app. How can I get the tile back?

Where was this "tile"?

On a phone? A PC? In a mobile app?

There are many ways of running speed tests. The easiest is to go here:

I am also missing the speed test tile, has this been removed with the latest update?

No.

But it depends on what you are talking about. The Android app?

What device? A Netgear router of some sort? What firmware?

My speed test tile also disappeared about a week ago. I have deleted the app and reinstalled and i still do not have a speed test tile. Someone please help. It was the only way I could determine if my Wi-Fi was lagging

Using iOS Netgear Nighthawk app version 2.21.0.332.  Same issue, the Speed Test tile is not visible or accessible with the latest update.

Only see:

My speed test tile is missing as well i noticed it a few days ago. I called and they told me it’s because my router security service was up and needs to be renewed and that it was a perk of that service. Also to renew it was like 200 bucks for 3 years or like 2800 for lifetime or something crazy like that. Yep I laughed and hung up.

Well that also probably explains why mine is missing then. Really it should be a standard feature when you can just hit up an online speed test for free 😂 it was just nice to be able to do it from the router itself.

Doesn't make sense.

Speedtest has nothing to do with "security service", whatever that means.

This is what you should see.

That is worrying.

Who did you call? If it was a number you found on the Internet, there is a high probably that you are yet another victim of a widespread scam, and that the people you talked to had nothing to do with Netgear.

By the way, the XR500 has its own support zone, manned by people who understand how those routers work.

This may be an app issue, but that is tied closely to the firmware.

Uh oh. The red flag there is iOS.

Are all of these reports from people on iOS?

If so, it looks like Netgear's attempts to fix problems that afflicted users of the previous Android version may have broken things for people on iOS.

This is  standard pattern for Netgear. At any time, one of the versions appears to have problems. They rarely manage to get both Android and iOS apps working satisfactorily at the same time.

Did you notice that the first message in this conversation is from February last year? These  bugs have a habit of coming back to life.

Please report the problem to the app team. Does iOS support  the same "shake and report" feature that comes with the Android app?

Shake ‘n’ bake baby, iOS supports the tantrum feature too 😂. I’ve reported, hopefully they’ll fix soon.
