AC 1200 Extender and Samsung Smart TV won't connect

My Samsung Smart TV (6 Series, I MU6290) will not connect to AC1200 extender, even though my other devices are connected (including other samsung products like galaxy 7 cell phone). Do I need an adapter or do i need to adjust settings on my smart tv?

    Do you get any type of error when trying to connect?

      Yes! The error message is "Wireless network connection failed. Cannot connect to the wireless network..." It goes on to tell me to check unplug and reset everything (which I've done 3 times, to no avail). i have all green lights on the AC1200, and my home wifi, so they seem to be talking to each other. I can also see the extender listed in the the network available networks. My TV just won't connect to it.
