Access point wg602v3 works fine, but unable to turn on security.
have had this for a while, works well. Tried to replace with more upto date version, but works with PC, but not with Android, or not with Mac.
BUT i cannot enable the security. Tried logging onto WAP via wifi, and ethernet. Nothing! Tried all the list of 192.168.0.227 type numbers. Nothing! Tried via settings on a MAC via ethernet. Nothing! Tried the netgear wizard app. Not supported, so...Nothing!
really doing my head in. Every time I connect to WAP via ethernet, I get a message saying no internet access. No **bleep** Sherlock! No access to Wireless Access Point either.
please someone help me. Everytime I look up online I get a new 192 number, none seem to work.
i am in a block of apartments with wired internet, as such cannot give details of IP or main router. i have an ethernet socket and the old WG602v3 plugged in, but no security.
NOW I HAVE HAD TO ENTER AN INCORRECT DEVICE AS WG602v3 is not listed. Grrrrrrrr!
I will gladly update the device but it works! And the 2 more modern devices didnt.

When the WG602v3 is plugged into your apartment's wired Internet, it's going to be assigned a dynamic IP address. If you want to log into the WG602v3 by IP address, you need to know this dynamic address. According to the manual, there is another way to log in using the Netbios name. Basically, the name is NETGEARXXXXXX, where XXXXXX are the last 6 digits of the MAC address printed on the label.
If none of this works, then unplug the WG602v3 from the wired Internet. The unit should, hopefully, revert to using 192.168.0.227 as its IP address. You will need temporarily assign a static IP address, like 102.168.0.220, to one of your computers. Then you should be able to log in. Change the wireless security, as desired. Finally, connect the WG602v3 to the wired Internet.

the second para... Have tried the unplugging, resetting etc. Am not sure of how to assign a STATIC IP to the laptop. Could you add more details please. And many thanks for your assistance. Much appreciated.
i believe the old PC laptop is win7.

On your PC, you should be able to just enter the Netbios name into any browser. I'm not sure if it will work on a Mac. You can try appending .local to the Netbios name.
