EX6120 NO router light/connection
i have installed a EX6120 AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Range Extender with little sucess. while plugged into the outlet directly next to my router, I get it to work (green router light is on and i can connect my phone to it successfully). However, if I move it anywhere else, there is no conncetion and the router light if off. Not green or amber - just dead. Even if I move it to an outlet 10 feet away - nothing. Unless it's plugged in within 5 feet of the router, it doesn't work. So it's pretty worthless - considering the point of the extender is to have it elsewhere.
I have used NETGEAR extenders in the past with ease and much sucess. I don't get it. I currently have another Netgear ext 40 feet away from the router, even on a different floor of the house, and it works great - so what's the problem with this one?
Hi NauzelGal,
Welcome to the community!
1. What is the firmware version of the extender?
2. Have you tried swapping the existing extender with the new one and see if the issue persists?
3. Have you tried changing the wireless channel of the router (check for interference)?
4. Have you tried setting up the extender on the location where you want to put it and check if it can still pick up the router signal?
