EX7700 AC2200 Nighthawk X6 Tri-Band Wifi Mesh Extender doesn't show an extender network during setup

The router is Virgin Media.

The extender was plugged into the mains directly next to the router. Unfortunately, my mother tried to set it up so I'm not entirely sure how the original setup went. She says she set is a range extender and managed to find the extender network on the initial setup but nothing changed and we could only connect to our original router (with no increase in range). After this, every time we go to the Nighthawk App, it says it can't connect to the router network.

I reset the extender and started a new device setup. When it says to connect to the extender's wifi network (NETGEAR_EXT) I go to do so but it doesn't show up in the network list. It showed up during the initial setup but no longer does.

When I try the WPS method, all seems well, with the WPS LED being a solid white but the router link LED flashing orange once and then not lighting up again. Every so often (5-10 minutes) it will flash again. I'm not entirely sure where to go from here.

Not really but we did get it to work. I unplugged the router and let it start back up again. Reset the extender a bunch if times and held down the pair button on the router for much longer than needed. After a couple of repeats it worked.

I think it's mostly down to luck and patience. Hope you can get yours to work.

I’m having the same issue now and it’s frustrating. Why can’t NETGEAR_EXT show up in the WiFi list if that’s what is needed to continue the connection process.
